Our award-winning JW Lees Original lager is proper lager. Crisp and clean. We use only British malts, with plenty of Styrian and Saaz hops. It’s a refreshing balance of soft citrus and a subtle malt sweetness. It’s pure sunshine with just the right amount of hoppiness and depth. Light citrus and floral aroma, fresh cut sweet citrus flavour with a refreshing crisp finish.

THE STORY OF ORIGINAL
The North of the 1950s wasn’t the vibrant cosmopolitan place we know today. It probably was, well, a bit grim. But the fifties saw the start of a cultural revolution in Britain. It ushered in a new outlook. Original thinking. And we were up for that.
And so, it was against a backdrop of brown beer that we had a bright idea. We launched our original lager when lager made up less than one per cent of the British beer market. And it was like sunshine in every sip. Still is. Sure, we’ve made the odd tweak, but it is today what it’s always been: lager without the fuss and faff. Nothing beats the Original.
