Beautiful Victorian pub in Chorlton

A historic pub in Chorlton

The Lloyds, originally known as Lloyd & Platt, is a distinguished late-Victorian public house situated in the heart of Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester. Constructed around 1870, the establishment was the result of a partnership between George Lloyd, the landowner, and James Platt, the builder. This collaboration is commemorated by an inscription on the building’s exterior. The design is attributed to E.J. Thompson, a Manchester-based architect, and the structure is recognized as a Grade II listed building due to its architectural significance.

The Lloyds is a real Victorian gem at the heart of Chorlton, full of character, charm, and the odd creaky floorboard that tells a good story. With exposed brick, stained glass, and old fireplaces, it’s got that perfect mix of history and warmth that makes you feel right at home. Built back when pubs were made to last, it’s been part of the local community for generations and still stands proud as one of Chorlton’s most welcoming spots.

Our Amenities

We’re all about good food, good beer, and good company here. Behind the bar you’ll find JW Lees cask ales fresh from the brewery, rotating craft beers, and the occasional special pour for the locals in the know. Upstairs there’s a cracking live music and event space for hire, perfect for birthdays, meetings, or community get-togethers. Outside, our large beer garden is perfect for sunny afternoons, and we even have a bowling green for a friendly roll and a pint or two. We’re dog friendly, family friendly, and always up for a good chat. Whether you’re after a quiet pint, a proper meal, or a night of live tunes, The Lloyds has you sorted.

With guest chefs, there’s always something new to try on the menu. Right now, the kitchen is home to Chapati Café, serving up authentic Indian street food and expertly crafted curries that capture the essence of Indian flavours. Chapati Café brings Gujarati-inspired snacks and curries like Tarka Dhal and chilli chicken to Chorlton, winning awards for their fresh, homestyle, and perfectly spiced dishes. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Dan Hall and Priti Chauhan-Hall, built on values of family, home, and community. Their style is a world away from the typical Anglo-Indian curry house, lighter, healthier, and designed for everyday eating, with recipes perfected to bring big flavour without compromise.
