The Bear’s Paw
Community pub Chester
Asset of Community Value
The Bear’s Paw in Newton is a true community cornerstone, built to serve the growing suburbs of Chester in the late twentieth century. Though the building itself is modern, its name carries real local heritage — the original Bear’s Paw stood proudly in Chester city centre for centuries before its demolition in 1956, with the licence and name later moving to this new site on Dicksons Drive. The pub’s open-plan design, spacious layout and welcoming atmosphere reflect its purpose from day one: to bring people together. Recognised as an Asset of Community Value, it continues to play an important role in neighbourhood life, a proper local that still stands for everything a good pub should be.
