AND THE WINNER IS…

Burnage Cricket and Bowling Club takes the crown in JW Lees and Carlsberg’s darts trophy series.

The darts team from Burnage beat a first class team from the Railway Royton in the grand finale at the 180 club in Leigh.

After a heated and tense five team semi-final, Burnage finally lifted the trophy in front of over 250 spectators.

The final night, held on January 30th 2016 at the infamous darts venue, was hosted by John Gwynne and featured display darting from former world championship runner-up Peter Manley. Burnage took away 10 tickets to the PDC event at the Manchester Arena this May along with limousine and £200 bar tab to enjoy on the night.

Burnage Team Captain, John Glover said; “We’re over the moon about winning the JCT trophy. We had such a great time in the heats running up to the final and the final itself was amazing- beer, darts and music, everything a darts final should be. All the teams really wanted to win, so for us to clinch it is just ace and we’re really looking forward to the night at the darts with a bit of VIP treatment. We won’t be giving up our title easily though, so we’ll see you at the final next year!”

Over five months, forty pub teams battled it out in a series of heats to be named as the JCT Champions 2016. Teams entered from across the North West and North Wales.

The next championship series is due to start in July this year.
