A fresh look for Anglesey Arms

JW Lees celebrates the reopening of Anglesey Arms, Menai Bridge following major refurbishment

JW Lees is delighted to announce the reopening in North Wales of one of its Inns & Hotels, Anglesey Arms, Menai Bridge, following a four-week closure and £688,000 investment. The hotel, which sits beside the picturesque Menai Strait, reopened its doors on 4th December 2025.

Refurbishment works focused on renewing the bar and dining areas, restoring the traditional and cosy feel that the Anglesey Arms is known for, while introducing thoughtful touches that enhance the guest experience. The refreshed interiors retain the building’s heritage and charm but feature a brighter, more inviting look, just in time for cosy festive gatherings beside the fire.

The project was designed by Louise Thorpe from JW Lees Property Team and delivered by principal contractors Silverglide, Beejay Upholstery and ACME Facilities Group. Together, they have created a warm and welcoming space that celebrates the character of the site and makes the most of its iconic coastal location.

Nestled beside the Menai Bridge, Anglesey Arms has long been a favourite stop for both locals and visitors to North Wales. The refurbishment reaffirms its position as a destination JW Lees pub hotel, offering the perfect place to stay and tuck in with home-cooked, signature dishes, perfectly poured JW Lees beers, and a true taste of Welsh hospitality.

Anglesey Arms is ideally placed for a memorable North Wales staycation. The surrounding area offers a delightful mix of heritage and nature, from strolling beneath the historic Menai Suspension Bridge (one of the world’s first modern suspension bridges) to exploring the hidden charms of Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens with its waterfalls and woodland trails. Guests will find that the refreshed hotel offers the ideal place to call in as evening draws in. With warm interiors, hearty food and expertly served cask ales, it’s the perfect stop for a proper pint and comfortable stay after a day’s adventure.

Guests can look forward to cosy afternoons, long lunches and festive get togethers as the hotel serves up dishes from its festive menu, alongside its traditional Christmas ale; Plum Pudding. The bar also showcases an impressive range of JW Lees beers, including Bitter, Manchester Pale Ale, Original Lager, Manchester Craft Lager, and Northern Stout. Guests will also find the latest small-batch beers from The Boilerhouse microbrewery, alongside a rotating selection of seasonal cask ales.

Will Griffiths, General Manager of Anglesey Arms, shared his excitement about the investment:

“Our refurbishment is stunning, I feel so proud and excited to show our customers the amazing transformation of the Anglesey Arms. We can’t wait to welcome back our beloved customers old and new to this very special family-friendly inn.”

The reopening of Anglesey Arms forms part of JW Lees’ ongoing investment programme across its managed pubs, inns and hotels, as the Manchester-based family brewery continues to champion great hospitality in outstanding locations across the North West of England and North Wales.
