JW Lees celebrates the reopening of Jolly Carter, Eccles following major investment
JW Lees is delighted to announce the reopening of its well-loved community pub in Eccles, Jolly Carter, following a five-week closure and £295,000 investment. The pub, just a few steps away from Winton Park, reopened its doors on Wednesday 11th February. The reopening sees the pub move from the JW Lees Pub Partners division, joining its growing division of Retail Operator pubs, headed up by Area Manager Louis Lees-Jones.
The Jolly Carter refurbishment project was designed by Daniel J Caulfield from JW Lees Property Team and delivered by principal contractor Silverglide. Works focused on renewing the bar, vault, and spacious seating areas with brand new fixtures, fittings, furniture and décor. The investment breathes new life into this neighbourhood favourite, reaffirming its place as a cornerstone JW Lees pub where locals and visitors alike can relax and sup a proper pint.
The Jolly Carter is perfectly positioned for those enjoying a day out in Salford. Whether you’re taking a stroll along the historic Bridgewater Canal or heading back from a match at Old Trafford, the pub provides a welcoming spot to kick back. With its refreshed, cosy interiors and a focus on perfectly poured cask ales, it is the ideal place to call in after exploring the local heritage or simply to catch up with neighbours.
Patrons can enjoy a full roster of weekly offers and events. The week kicks off with Monday Darts and Tuesday Pool leagues, followed by a mid-week Wine Wednesday. The energy picks up for the Thursday Quiz Night, leading into Fizz Friday with a live DJ and live music on Saturday evening. The week concludes with a local favourite, Sunday Bingo.

New operators Gareth and Mel shared their excitement about the investment:
“We have some really fun times ahead planned for us all. Gareth and I want our pub to be a fun, comfortable and safe place where everyone can feel included. Community is so important to us, and we look forward to making new lifelong friends.”
The reopening of Jolly Carter forms part of JW Lees’ ongoing investment programme across its managed pubs, inns and hotels, as the Manchester-based family brewery continues to champion great hospitality in outstanding locations across the North West of England and North Wales.
