JW Lees celebrates the reopening of Gardeners Arms, Moston following investment

Welcome back to Moston's local

JW Lees is delighted to announce the reopening of its well-loved community pub in Moston, Gardeners Arms, following a two-week closure and £150,000 investment. It now sits in the Retail Operators division of JW Lees. The pub, a grand red brick building with a history of serving the local community, reopened its doors on Thursday, 23rd February, refreshed and ready to welcome back regulars and new visitors alike.

Refurbishment works focused on renewing the bar, vault, and spacious seating areas with brand-new fixtures, fittings, furniture, and décor, in addition to new big-screen TVs for live sport, darts, and a pool table. The result is a stylish, relaxed space that retains a traditional pub atmosphere, where locals and visitors can enjoy match days, live entertainment and perfectly poured JW Lees beers, brewed just over a mile away at the Greengate Brewery in Middleton. The bar features an impressive lineup, including Original Lager, Manchester Craft Lager and Stout on keg, Bitter on cask, alongside a changing lineup of seasonal ales and small-batch brews from The Boilerhouse.

The project was designed by Daniel J Caulfield from JW Lees Property Team and delivered by the principal contractor, Silverglide. Together, they have created a warm and welcoming space that celebrates the pub’s character.

Situated on Greengate Roundabout, the Gardeners Arms is well connected for visitors arriving by public transport. Moston railway station is just minutes away, with trains running directly to Manchester Victoria. Multiple bus services also stop directly outside, making it easy to reach from across Manchester and beyond. The pub is also ideally placed for a post-match pint, sitting a short walk from FC United of Manchester’s Broadhurst Park stadium. Nearby green space Boggart Hole Clough provides a scenic backdrop for those exploring the area on foot.

At the heart of the revitalised local is its programme of live entertainment and community events. The Gardeners Arms offers free pool on Mondays, a darts league, live music and live sport, with locally brewed JW Lees beers on cask and keg throughout.

Retail Operator Jenna Milner shared her excitement about the investment:

“I am beyond proud of the work we have had done here at the Gardener’s Arms. The pub itself, myself, Chris, the team, and the community deserve every last bit of this new adventure in our new pub. We can’t wait to get the doors open and do what we do best.”

The Gardeners Arms investment reflects JW Lees’ enduring commitment to the communities it has served across the North West of England and North Wales for nearly two centuries. The brewery invites the people of Moston and beyond to come and experience the renewed pub.

The Gardeners Arms is located at Lightbowne Road, Moston, Manchester, M40 5RT.
