Christmas Markets Back at Albert Square

Manchester’s famous Christmas Markets are back and this year they’re set to be bigger than ever. From 7th November through to 22nd December, the city will be alive with festive cheer as millions of visitors wander through ten locations packed with seasonal stalls.

The big news this year, for the first time since 2019, Albert Square is back at the heart of the action, right on the door steps of Founder’s Hall. After a £430m restoration of the Town Hall, the square will once again take centre stage with a 50-metre Big Wheel, a vintage carousel, traditional fairground rides, undercover seating and a mini-market of wooden huts selling gifts, crafts, and festive food. While the main markets close just before Christmas, Albert Square’s attractions will carry on right through to 4 January 2026, keeping the celebrations alive into the new year.

Best of all, you won’t have to go far for a festive pint. Founder’s Hall sits right on Albert Square, making it the perfect place to warm up after a spot of Christmas shopping. Pop in for a Plum Pudding or Biscuit Barrel, best enjoyed alongside our seasonal dishes and festive menus.

As Councillor Pat Karney said: “We’re going all out this year to make sure Manchester is the world’s number one city for Christmas.” And with the return of Albert Square, the famous wooden huts, and a JW Lees pub right on the doorstep, we couldn’t agree more.

So pull on the Christmas jumper, take a spin on the Big Wheel, and finish the day the northern way, with a proper festive pint at Founder’s Hall. Because Manchester really does Christmas best.
