FAQ
Where can I buy JW Lees beer?
Visit any JW Lees Managed or Pub Partner venue across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire and North Wales to try a selection of our cask and draught beers. Or pick up bottles of MPA and Moonraker from selected retailers and supermarkets. Full pub finder at jwlees.co.uk/pubs.
Are JW Lees beers vegan?
JW Lees draught beers like Original, MCL and Stout, along with all bottled beers are all vegan-friendly. Cask beers are not vegan friendly.
What is cask ale and how is it different from keg?
Cask ale (real ale) keeps fermenting naturally inside the cask after leaving the brewery, developing condition and flavour without added gas, and is served through a handpump. Keg beer is filtered, pasteurised and carbonated before it leaves the brewery, then served under CO2 or nitrogen pressure for a more consistent pour and a longer shelf life.
What is the strongest beer JW Lees makes?
Harvest Ale, at 11% ABV. Brewed as a barley wine and released as a vintage-dated edition each year, it’s made for slow sipping and cellaring rather than session drinking. Of the core range, Moonraker at 6.5% ABV is the strongest widely available beer JW Lees produce.
What is The Boilerhouse range?
The Boilerhouse is JW Lees’ small-batch microbrewery, releasing rotating “cycles” of experimental Keg and Cask beers throughout the year, often in collaboration with fellow breweries like Cloudwater, Vocation and Northern Monk. Alongside one permanent beer, Craft Pale.
